TEZU

 

Parshuram Kund is a Hindu pilgrimage centre situated on the Brahmaputra plateau in the lower reaches of the Lohit River and 21 km north of Tezu in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh.

 

Parasuram Kund is situated within the Kamlang Reserve Forest area. This place on the Lohit River carries a strong mythological link with the legend of Parsurama, a Hindu sage. According to the legend, sage Parsurama washed away his sin of matricide in the waters of the Lohit river at Bramhakund. Each year thousands of pilgrims from all over the country congregate on Makar Sankranti day, to wash away their sins. A fair (mela) is held during this period.

 

                           

 

 

 

ASSAM

 

BISWANATH CHARALI (BISWANATH GHAT)

Biswanath Ghat of Assam is one of the famous tourist place of Assam. This ghat is located about 80km from Tezpur town. The famous Biswanath temple is also known as Gupta Kashi. This Gupta Kashi is located at the junction of Bridhaganga river which is commonly known as Burigonga and Brahmaputra river. There are many different gods are also there on the cluster of this Biswanath Ghat. There are also many stone posts and also beams are found there. So it is believed that once upon there was a stone temple was there. This temple remains under water in the rainy days. So the devotees got only one chance in the winter worship the god. So there also construct many temporary sheds for the tourists coming from various states and countries. On the 3rd day of the festival the Assamese Bihu festival is also celebrated there which is one of the famous festival of Assam.

There is also a island is present nearer this Biswanath Ghat which is known as island of Umatumuni. This island is also one of the famous place of Assam. If you ever come to Assam never forget to see these wonderful places of Assam.

 

 

NAG SHANKAR

 

 

The temple is very old. There are snakes. It's believed that whoever sees the pair of snakes are blessed with luck.Nagsankar Mandir is situated east of Tezpur , a place called Nagsankar, 15 Km before Biswanath Chariali. The exact history of the temple is not definite. It was built around 4th Century AD. According to one believe, the temple was built by a King called Nag Sankar from Lohitya dynasty in late 4th century. Nagsankar reigned eastern Kamrup (ancient name of Assam) in 378 AD. He was a great king and sent his representatives to his contemporary the Great Asoka of Maurya dynasty. 

According to another believe, the Nagsankar temple was built by king Nagmatta. Nagmatta is another name of the powerful king of Assam, Arimatta. Arimatta has important palce in mythology too. He is believed to be son of the river-god Brahmaputra, who blessed beautiful wife of king Ramchandra with a son. 

Ahom king Su-sen-pha repaired Nagsankar temple in 1480. With this work the king was able to spread his kingdom to the north bank of the river Brahmaputra and win the faith of the people of the region. 

The temple has a large pond by it. The pond is home to large varities of turtles and large fish. Some turtles are believed to be hundreds of year old. The
locality of the area has used to believe that Turtles are form of God and hence nobody kills Turtles.
